About Us
Trojan Promotions is an independently owned and operated promotional products firm in Grand Forks, North Dakota. We are long-time, active members in both ASI (Advertising Specialty Institute) and PPAI (Promotional Products Association International) as well as members of our local Chamber of Commerce.
Our sales team has 25 combined years of experience with promotional marketing and custom decorated apparel. We work with small businesses and large corporations; regional health systems, non-profits and major universities, their departments and student groups. Our clients include government agencies, large manufacturing firms, and even a Hollywood production company.
Our History
In 1990, Troy Nelson began working at his father’s start-up business forms company. He created a division that focused on advertising specialties, which was quickly growing in the business to business market. The division expanded by offering custom decorated apparel and the advent of more casual work attire. In 2007 a “spin-off” made Nelson Specialties its own corporate entity.
With a new location and additional staff, it was time for a new name, a fresh logo. The legend of the ancient city of Troy conjured the challenges businesses experience trying to create powerful and effective promotional campaigns. The imagery of the Trojan Horse as a gift, the cadence of Trojan and Promotions, and its memorability were all factors in the name choice.
